Anita Stewart’s Canada and Rouxbe

Anita-Stewarts-Canada-Cover

I recently reviewed the newest book by Cuisine Canada’s founder for Off The Shelf. If you’re in downtown Guelph, drop by The Bookshelf and pick up a copy of Anita Stewart’s Canada, the review — or both.

While the cover photo will make you want to yaffle your way through the pages, trivia buffs will delight in the historical tidbits sprinkled throughout the text. And foodies? The book comes with 3 months’ of online video instruction courtesy of Harper Collins.

With a “focus on the food, not celebrities”, Rouxbe provides a series of step-by-step videos by professional chefs covering techniques from deboning fish to parchment paper tips for piping chocolate ganache. The recipes are simple but sumptuous. Tonight I’m going to try the Almond Coriander Chicken.

So, in the name of resipiscence, I’ll switch off the TV, fire up my laptop and groak my way through the first lesson. If kalopsia rears its ugly head, you’ll hear about it.
