B is for Blogger, Blast and Bugger!
Forgive me. I don’t usually swear on the internet, but I’m miffed. Those who subscribe to my blog — all six of my loyal followers — might think yesterday’s post ended somewhat abruptly. I hope you had charitable thoughts like, “Strange. Charmian always rounds things off so nicely.” Or, “How disappointing. I always get a kick out of her punchline.” Well, yesterday my creative brain and Blogger’s linear software clashed. Mid-post I got the idea to add a new label for “Quick Meals”. Buoyed by my inspiration, I scooted down to the bottom of the entry screen and added the new label.
For some reason, Blogger took this as an invitation to post. Uh, no. I just wanted to add a handy little label while I thought of it, thank you very much.
Now, creative types — the ones with no matching sock and ten books always on the go — understand that you might want to add new labels at any time during the composition process. Linear software gurus — the ones with leftovers organized by expiration date and clean furnace filters — can’t conceive why anyone wouldn’t just wait until the end to add a new label. Labels = end. End = post.
Well, not in my world.
Need proof? This is my desk three minutes ago. Since I took this shot I’ve added the camera and two pieces of mail to the mess. What’s under the desk? A heating pad and another box of Kleenex.
And you can’t see the fifteen (yes, 15!) software programs I have up and running in the background.
I’m toying with adding another category – Software Stupidity – but don’t think I’m ready to post.
