Beatles Buffet
Saturday, February 7, 2009 marked the 45th anniversary of the Beatles’ arrival in North America. To celebrate, my friend Theresa hosted an Across the Universe party. Great food and bad puns set the mood as we watched the video and sang along.
I apologize to the Fab Four for butchering their music. I apologize to you for posting grainy photos and worse puns. Here, in all its flash-washed glory, is a glimpse of the lyrically-inspired food we gobbled between songs.
Who could resist chocolate-dipped Strawberry Fields?
Olive You Need is Love and a few bits of pimento…
We all need a yellow fruit platter, a yellow fruit platter, a yellow fruit platter…
I once had a gouda…
Come on baby, have a pretzel…
Sergeant Pumpernickel’s Lonely Spinach Dip…
Eleanor Rigby brought these…
Great way to get Baby Boomers to eat their veggies…
Salmon-thing in the way she moves? Worst pun of the night.
My battery died before I could snap a shot of Spinal-Cracker (Jack) Caramel Corn.
There will be lots of other Beatles firsts this year and I’m out of ideas. Got any culinary suggestions to honour the Lads from Liverpool?
