Breakfast of Champions
Michael Phelps might be breaking records in the pool, but David McGinn gets gold for his piece in yesterday’s Globe and Mail. His “Eat Like Mike” is one of the funniest pieces of writing I’ve read in a long, long time. McGinn decides to tackle Phelps’s 12,000-calorie-a-day, carb-heavy diet and fails — with hilarious results.
Unlike Olympic sports, humour writing is much harder than it looks, and McGinn pulls this feat off flawlessly. I don’t normally point you to a link, say “Read This!” and then leave, but this piece speaks for itself.
So, read this!
