Aga Envy

You’ll never guess what arrived in the mail today – unsolicited. AGA Magazine. Yes, folks, an entire magazine revolving around an oven. It’s big, it’s glossy and it’s not all that bad. I’m speaking of the magazine, but the same applies to an Aga. Okay, it was their Christmas 2007 issue, but to be fair, it did come all the way across the pond from jolly old England.

As the cover says, it’s full of recipes, interiors and inter–? I don’t know. Inter-something else. The text is obscured by the model’s head, but with a section entitled “The Aga Interview”, I think I can fill in the missing letters.

Despite the lack of snow and a model dressed for an autumn stroll in the woods, this issue’s all about the festive season. Aga offers tips on a green Christmas (literally and environmentally speaking), interior design ideas, a gift guide, cooking advice, fiction reviews and pages and pages and pages of gorgeous looking Aga-friendly recipes. Whoever thought this up gets the spin-of-the-decade award. It’s not a cooker, it’s a lifestyle!

Which gets me thinking…

Nope. My oven is noteworthy for all the wrong reasons. An unprecedented amount of baked-on grime is hardly the stuff on which one launches a platform, let along a glossy magazine.

Guess I’ll put oven cleaner on the grocery list and keep blogging.
