Kitchen Disasters & Fixes is now on iTunes

Kitchen Disasters & Fixes App by The Messy Baker

Hooray, hooray! The month of May.
My iTunes app went live today.

Okay, I’m not a poet. But I have written a pretty good app. Having had more than my share of Kitchen Disasters, I thought it might be a good idea to share my hard-earned knowledge. Kitchen Disasters & Fixes does just that. It’s currently available on iTunes and I understand an Android version is on its way.

What’s in it for you? Lots.

Besides quick fixes for common kitchen troubles like burned cookies and runny mashed potatoes, I include Rescue Recipes, some handy articles and Avoidance Tactics so you won’t make the same mistake twice. The app is very easy to use and unlike many apps, doesn’t require an Internet connection once downloaded.

It’s $2.99 and will pay for itself with one salvaged lasagne.

Of course, I can’t launch a new product without a giveaway, so this week I’ll be giving away an app a day for the week. Want to enter? Just leave a comment and tell me about a cooking problem that plagues you. (Note: You’ll need an iPhone, iPad or iTouch to use this version of the app.)

Happy cooking!

Wow. What a great app. Would buy it in a flash, but I am a Blackberry user now (used to have an iPhone) — both my phone and a PlayBook. Any chance of making an app for BB?

    Looks wonderful and so useful.

Rats! But you have to use the technology that works for you.

I wrote the content but the app magic is done by a developer who keeps on top of the tech end. They do Android and Apple. Blackberry isn’t either? Is it? I don’t have control over what platforms they choose to focus on, but will see if they have anything in the works for BB.

Are you on Twitter? I’ll be tweeting tips.

I follow you on Twitter and tweeting Tips is a brilliant use of the Technology.

Followed my Canadian heart and moved to Blackberry. 🙂
Possible that, in future, cetain Android apps will work on Blackberry. I’ll keep watching.

    Thanks again.

Thanks! I’ll tweet you something soon.

I hear you on the conflict of which smartphone to support. Since I use a Mac for all my writing/photos, the choice was clear for me. I wish apps works more like the Internet in that they were universal, but that’s not the case!

Well, I’m an iPhone user, and one who has a tendency to burn things (not baked things in the oven, but stovetop things like when I’m caramelizing onions and such), so I would love the app.

One of the many cooking problems that plagues me is overcooked fish. Cold one minute, dry and unappealing the next! I’ve tried the “10 minutes per inch” rule but it’s not always a success. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Fish is an issue for lots of people. It can overcook in a heartbeat. I address this very issue on the app. The best advice I have is to use your eyes, not a timer! Check often and earlier than you think it needs.Cook thin fillets on high for a couple of minutes per side and thick fish in two phases — sear at high, then turn down to medium.
