TARDIS Cookie Jar

TARDIS Cookie Jar

My TARDIS Cookie Jar This is a TARDIS Cookie Jar. It’s mine. You can’t have it. If you want your own, and I know you will, you can buy one here.

It’s the best cookie jar in the world. No. Make that The Universe. Why?

Well, being a TARDIS* it’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. So despite its compact size, this little blue police box holds enough cookies to fill Lake Erie. But you wouldn’t want to do that because they’d get soggy and you’d have a Great Lake’s worth of ruined cookies to deal with and Environment Canada would get really ticked off at you and send you nasty letters. So, just use it to store cookies. Not save the Great Lakes.

Plus, because of TARDIS technology, you will never, ever run out of cookies. Should the jar run low, say for instance because you decide to single-handedly host the annual Cub Scouts Jamboree, you just go back in time to a day you made cookies and — viola — a fresh batch is ready and waiting for you. Don’t bake cookies? Set the TARDIS to land at the Keebler Factory and have the elves do the work for you.

Plus when ever you close the lid, the cookie jar makes the signature TARDIS sound, so you always know when someone’s been stealing cookies. Right, Andrew?

Anyway, I’ve got lots and lots and lots of cookies to eat. And I’m washing them all down with coffee in my TARDIS mug, which brings a whole new meaning to the phrase bottomless cup.

Triple-Chocolate Brownie Cookies are worthy of my TARDIS cookie jar. Made with love and wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey care by TheMessyBaker.com I christened my TARDIS with Mairlyn Smith’s Triple-Chocolate Brownie Cookies and will share the recipe with you later, but only if you’re kind enough to answer this question: If you were lucky enough to have a TARDIS Cookie jar — and I believe they sell them only to responsible cookie bakers — what  kind of cookie would you put in yours? Share links if you like.

*Doctor Who fans and my mother know TARDIS is an acronym for Time and Relative Dimensions in Space.

Can I admit that I’m not the biggest Dr. Who fan, but I am a Craig Ferguson fan! That’s how I knew what that was. I would fill mine with the most requested cookie in this house – chocolate chip.

Or maybe Dinner with Julie’s Chocolava.

I adore Craig Ferguson, too. In fact, for my birthday, Andrew got us tickets to see him in Toronto in July.

Chocolate chip are a classic choice. Never tried Julie’s Chocolava, but anything she makes is great.

Thanks for playing along, even though you aren’t Doctor Who fan. (Not even when it was dishy David Tenant?!)

Hi Charmian: If I were lucky enough to have a Tardis
cookie jar, I would definitely keep oatmeal cookies, made from my grandmother’s recipe in it. In fact all this talk about cookies is making me crave one, so I think I shall put on my apron and whip up a batch.

A Tardis Cookie Jar! A Tardis Mug! Are you waiting, breathlessly, for a visit from the Doctor?

If I had that cookie jar, I think that I would fill it with my Mother’s Christmas spice cookies because they take so long to make, I would like a never-ending supply.

Oatmeal cookies are one of the world’s ultimate comfort foods. Happy baking. I’m craving oatmeal cookies now, too!

Either the Doctor or Craig Ferguson, but neither are likely to appear in my kitchen. If the Doctor does appear, I’m going to snag his sonic screwdriver!

I’m intrigued by your mother’s spice cookies. What makes them so time-consuming? I bet they’re worth the time, though.

The spice cookies are great; as the name implies, more savoury than sweet. There are a lot of ingredients including various kinds of peel, raisins & currants, maybe nuts? and a number of spices. To top it off, the eggs have to be separated (not a big deal, but just another step). Needless to say, many, many dishes. It doesn’t sound like a big deal when I write it down, but it seems to take hours. I guess that is why my Mom only made them at Christmas.

Couldn’t we put that sonic screwdriver to good work!

I love this cookie jar. I would make ginger cookies. I would fill the TARDIS mug with tea to go with them. You have already posted that recipe. I would even munch and sip watching Dr. Who videos.
    Cheers,
    Robin

They sound wonderful. Make them this Christmas and then in future years, return to that one day and refill your supply. If the sonic screw driver ever materializes, I bet it will separate the eggs easily!

Ginger cookies were my first thought when I bought the TARDIS. But these cookies changed my mind. For now. But remember. The TARDIS is big. Very big. It can accommodate two types of cookies. Or even three…

Now the only question that remains is, which Doctor will we watch? Tennant? Smith? Baker?

Oh gosh, that TARDIS cookie jar is awesome. My inner Doctor Who nerd is being awakened.

I might be tempted to fill the cookie jar up with peanut butter kisses (those peanut butter cookies with a Hershey’s kiss pressed into the top) or a healthy version of cowboy cookies–chewy, salty, crunchy, whole grain-y.

When I saw this cookie jar my inner Doctor Who nerd didn’t just awaken, it jumped out of bed and hit the Internet running.

You’re the first to mention peanut butter, which surprises me since ti’s a classic cookie. And definitely worthy of the TARDIS cookie jar.

Homemade digestives would be my choice but I don’t think that they would appeal to the doctor. As you say, the Tardis can hold many cookies so I’d add in ginger and chocolate – I’ve got a great recipe.
Tennant still gets my vote, although old enough to have a nostalgic soft spot for Baker!

Homemade digestives? I’ve never made them. St. Michael’s brand, which we can’t get here without a good deal of trouble, is my dad’s favourite cookie. I’ll have to track down an recipe and see if I can make some that live up to Marks & Spencers! The chocolate ginger cookies appeal to me since it’s one of my favourite flavour combinations. Feel free to post a link to the recipe if you have it on your blog.

As for the Doctor, I only started watching with the new series so only know Baker because of his iconic muffler. I adored all the new doctors — each one so different for the past. But Tennant is the dishiest so far.

LOVE the cookie jar. I have a TARDIS currently being built (and yet to be painted) in my back yard. Or, well, I have a phone booth but we’re all willing to pretend. To that end, I thought you might be interested (if you haven’t already found it) in http://www.thinkgeek.com. Why? Because it’s awesome. And us geeks have to stick together. 🙂

You’re building a TARDIS? In your back yard?! Oh, please, please, please send me a link to a photo when the project is done. Oh, I can’t imagine the fun you’ll have with it.

And I didn’t know about ThinkGeek. Thanks so much for pointing me in that direction.

So, when the TARDIS is finished, where’s the first place you’ll go? 🙂

Sorry for the delay in responding, I was waiting for the TARDIS to be painted. I think it’s, if not finished, then definitely close to it!

    Here you are: http://twitpic.com/60xxbc

And, well, technically it’s just a phone box, isn’t it? Not really a TARDIS at all! But oh, the places I can go… This will require some thought.

Enjoy your intergalactic travels. Drop me a post card if you can.
