I’m back!

28 Jun I’m back!

I’m back. Andrew’s back. The cats are back. And we’re all pretty please about it. Even the Gerber daisies perked up for the occasion.

After three months of camping out in my parents’ guest room we’re once again residing in our own home. And loving the renovation results. Of course, now the living room looks woefully inadequate, but we’re out of time, energy and money, so I won’t obsess about that too much. For now.

Technically, we’ve been back a week, although we spent most of that time unpacking dust-covered boxes, washing off dust-encrusted surfaces and figuring out where the nonperishable food should go while we await the custom-built pantry. Ugly Ikea storage racks 2: Good taste 0.

Wanting to return with a memorable post, I waffled between dazzling you with marvelous before and after pictures. Or a fabulous chocolate chip cookie recipe. Or perhaps the saga of the rusted stove. The first post-renovation post had to be perfect, so I asked the Universe for a sign. And last night I got it.

Living up to my tag line, I melted the plastic steamer while preparing broccoli. So much for the “Thanks for Hosting Us for a Quarter of a Year” dinner I was serving my parents.

But I got my sign.

I interpret this as, “Stop fussing and hit the keyboard already.” Okay. Okay.  I will.

So what do you want to hear about first?

@Cheryl Arkison, photos I can give you, but marriage advice? How about — never get angry at the same time? It works if you can coordinate your ire, which is easier said than done.

I’m just glad to see you here. I had a mind to fly north of the border and check on you in person. I’ve *missed* you!

    Pictures, please.

I want to see pictures of your garden preparations for your sister’s wedding. I’m sure it’s even more goregeous than its usual goregeous self.

@Amy Proulx, thanks for the vote of confidence. With the renovations eating up all my time and energy, I didn’t do much to the gardens but prune and weed. Fortunately, we’ve had a lot of rain and heat, so the lavender and roses were amazing –but thanks to Mother Nature, not me.

If my sister is open to it, I’ll post photos from the Big Day. July 17th is coming fast!

Hurrah! I’ve missed your humourous blogging. Welcome back. Personally, I want the fancy key lime pie recipe you served on Sunday, but I think before and after pics are a priority too.

@Robin Smart, the lime pie suffered from the humidity, but tasted good. Sorry there are no left overs, but I’ll make you one of your own if you ask really, really nicely. And share with me…

@Terry Cohoe, thanks for the feedback and the enthusiastic response. It means a lot.

I missed this space and all the wonderful commentors. While I’m glad to have a new kitchen, I’m equally glad to be have my life back to normal (if you can call it “normal”).

I’ll post pictures tomorrow. The recipes can wait!
