Chocolate Winner

18 Jan Chocolate Winner

Oh, so close. One number lower and I could have launched this post with a really cool reference to Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. You know. What’s the secret of the universe? 42! Oh, I could have had fun proving chocolate was at the core of our existence and given you an airtight excuse to munch as much as you want when science reveals antioxidants alone won’t keep us young and happy.

But  in its neutral wisdom, rubbed elbows with Murphy and selected #43 instead. Like I’m supposed to work with that. So, I Googled the number and the best fit I could find in 0.26 seconds was 43 Folders, a site devoted to “finding the time and attention to do your best creative work.”

Okay. Cookbook on chocolate, focused attention, creative output. This just might work after all. But I’ll leave that decision to Roseann K, who was the 43rd person to tell the world their chocolate preferences. She likes milk chocolate. I like dark. So we should be able to share a box of assorted chocolate without it turning into a shoving match.

Congratulations Roseann, you just won a copy of Chocolate: More than 50 Decadent Recipes by Dominque and Cindy Duby, published by Whitecap Books. I’ll be emailing you shortly for shipping details.

Thanks to everyone who entered. It was fun reading your preferences.

How could I not have won something to do with chocolate?? The universe is off kilter after all. I am proud to say I made two non-chocolate recipes this weekend – from scratch – pastry and all – all thanks to you.
The Roasted Apple Chicken was success, and I did turn the carcass into stock for the soup to come. You made Monday worth getting up for by providing a sample of the Roasted Apple Chicken Left Over Soup for my lunch. It was lovely. My daughter who claimed she didn’t want any, ate half by dipping left over chicken into my bowl and slathering each bit with the soup. I’m excited about making yummy stuff again soon. Please keep up the great blogging and samples to ancient sisters who beg well.

Well done, Robin! Glad you (and my niece) liked the soup. Maybe next time you’ll get a bowl all to yourself.
