Bitchin’ Kitchen

Bitchin’ Kitchen

I could really use a laugh. Not only does my butcher retire at the end of this week (sniff), the little community craft store next to it — the one where I bought my groovy reusable coffee sleeves — has closed shop. The sudden demise of our car rounded out my trio of losses. It also gobbled up every not-so-spare minute as Andrew and I scrambled to find a replacement vehicle.

Fortunately, last weekend Angelique Picanco, one of the food bloggers at the Eat Local information session, introduced me to The Bitchin’ Kitchen. This hilarious online cooking show hits The Food Network next year and is an irreverent but informative look at Italian food. Nadia G, a blond-haired cross between Elvira and Rachel Ray, has tatoos, outrageous costumes and a healthy appetite for scantily clad men.

Angelique generously gave all the attendees a copy of Nadia Giosia’s Bitchin’ Kitchen Cookbook: Rock Your Kitchen and Let the Boys Clean Up the Mess (B360 Media, 2009). I fully intended to pay things forward with a Bitchin’ Kitchen give away. But this book is too much fun, so I’m keeping it!

As a consolation, here’s Nadia taking on olive oil. Sorry Miss Ray, you are no longer queen of EVOO.

Want your own Bitchin’ Kitchen Cookbook? You can buy an autographed copy online. Tell Nad I sent you.

I think I’ll have to come back and give the Bitchin’ Kitchen another chance later this weekend. I tried to watch it a couple of weeks ago and it just didn’t ‘hit’ me.

Sorry you’ve had a tough month. Deep breaths and cocktails sound in order. : )

She looks like Olivia Newton John but talks like Tony Soprano. Not sure what the Rachel Ray fans will make of her, but I think she’s a breath of fresh air (even if she scares me a little).

No worries, Dana. It’s not going to appeal to everyone. I needed a laugh and this over-the-top take did it. Besides, you know I can’t resist a frolicking Greek hottie.

I also like the video of Eddie Izzard’s Death Star Canteen. But he drops too many f-bombs for me to post it here. More than once this week I’ve found myself yelling, “Death by tray it shall be!” Watch the YouTube video to see why this is funny.

Cheryl, your comment came in as I was replying to Dana. I think Rachel Ray talks like Tony Soprano, so that analogy works. Sure she’s scary, but you know all her olive oil is genuine. Or else!

Hey!!! Angelique here! Thanks for the post, it made me chuckle as well. Glad people can enjoy it and just laugh a little… after all smiling makes everything easier! Glad to have met you – you are one great gal!

I’m definitely laughing … but I live where people speak like this for real – everywhere all the time. It lost its appeal the minute I developed an accent of my own! LOL

I am curious to hear more about the book though and terribly sorry you’re having a rough week. 🙁

I’m so sorry that your butcher is retiring and your car is on the fritz. No fun. At least you have Bitchin Kitchen to cheer you up! What an awesome cookbook!

    Dear Charmian,
I thought it was fun, and I actually will easily remember the info now. I need her “punch” to land things in my soggy brain. Each time I wander down the grocery store aisles I will get a chuckle when I pass the oil section.
    Cheers (But not in oil),
    Robin

Hahahaha that’s a funny site! I hadn’t heard of it before, thanks for introducing us to it!
It’s heart-breaking for me when independent store close us. Really, when a small bookshop, crafts store, or even clothes store closes, I get very sad. I know how hard it is to own stores and how fierce it is to compete with the chains! I say boo to Michael’s!

Katerina, glad I’m not the only selfish one here!

Angelique, it was great meeting you too. Kudos on creating a site that gets young people into the kitchen.

Diva, you’re very sweet. This week is much better. I’ll likely post a recipe from this book once I’ve had a chance to try a few. I just had to share the humour.

Elyse, thanks for the commiseration. Misery loves company.

Robin, good point about her delivery making the information easy to remember. Nad actually knows a thing or two about food, even if her fashion sense is a bit questionable.

Marta, I hear you on all accounts. Thanks for understanding.
